The Teaching Tools
Learning on Country Notepad
From the limited edition Holly Sanders x The Teaching Tools collection.
Artwork: "Learning on Country"
Meaning: This artwork acknowledges the traditional owners of this land, waters and sky, who have thrived and lived sustainably with the land we now call Australia for more than 60 000 years. It pays respect to our Elders of the past and present for their strength, knowledge and leadership and to our children, who are our future Elders. The meeting place and people symbols represent our educators, communities and Elders, supporting our children by creating culturally safe learning environments where culture, families and communities are honoured and celebrated. A place where our children develop a strong sense of self, an all-inclusive education for a bright future. The journey or travel lines connecting the meeting place symbols represent the learning journey as our children grow into strong confident learners and strive to achieve their highest potential. The surrounding flowing lines and detailed patterns represents sand hills and Country. Country is our mother, is steeped in our culture and gives us our identity and sense of belonging. Our culture and connection to Country is a great source of wellbeing and strength for our children and their learning.
All descriptions have been written by Holly Sanders.
This collaboration is a celebration of women: powerful, strong, resourceful and determined. Thousands of generations of women have guided and supported each other on Country since millennia and have birthed and nurtured centuries of people into existence.
The story telling and symbols used in this contemporary art stamp set does not represent all First Nations cultural groups or people, if in doubt always check within your community.
